Just the Dacs:
An Introduction & Understanding of DACS
Speaker
Workshop Description
The Hudson Library and Historical Society will be hosting our Fall Workshop on Monday, Septmber 18, 2006. Explore a new approach to archival description with this Society of Ohio Archivists workshop. “Just the DACS” is an in-depth, practical consideration of the key concepts and descriptive elements in Describing Archives: A Content Standard (DACS), the new U.S. standard for archival cataloging. A replacement for Archives, Personal Papers, and Manuscripts (APPM), DACS provides archivists with an output-neutral set of rules for describing archives, personal papers, and manuscript collections. This workshop is designed for both the beginner and those somewhat familiar with DACS. Suggested reading- Describing Archives: A Content Standard (Chicago: Society of American Archivists, 2004).
