The program will also feature a display of selected original manuscripts featured in the book. Copies of “With Sentiments of Respect and Affection:” Letters of Old Miami, 1809-1873 will be available for purchase.

Browne, who rode East on horseback in 1811 to raise a building fund for Miami; politicians Henry Clay, James Garfield, and Whitelaw Reid; Cincinnati viticulturist Nicholas Longworth; and pastor/educator David Swing, among others.
The book also includes excerpts from a diary Miami University student Theophilus Hibbett kept, describing the long journey he made to Oxford from his Tennessee home in July 1851, only to arrive a month before school started. Excerpts of minutes from Miami University Board of Trustee and faculty meetings, together with records of financial accounts and student enrollment, complete the book.
